Jan Dippell Ritzinger, owner of Flowershop Ivy, has been an icon in the floral industry for over 50 years. For 53 years, he has run his shop on the Leidseplein, the first flower shop in Amsterdam.

Although Flowershop Ivy is located in a prime location, Jan considers his shop mainly as a showroom. His real clientele consists of luxury fashion brands, jewelry houses, and hotel chains around the world. This high society chooses Jan for his conceptual approach, luxury finishes, and personal touch. “My clients deserve the best, and I provide them with tailor-made floral arrangements,” he says proudly.

Jan compares his work to that of a tailor. “I design each floral concept to fit, just like a tailor-made suit. I consider who the client is, their style, and personality, and I create something that immediately resonates with them.” Each bouquet tells a story, a tradition Flowershop Ivy has upheld for 125 years. “Storytelling may be trendy now, but we've been doing it for generations,” Jan emphasizes.

Every Monday morning, Jan drives with his chauffeur to the cash & carry at Greenflor in Aalsmeer. Here, he sources flowers for his weekly floral subscriptions for the largest hotels and shops in Amsterdam. He personally delivers these bouquets, ensuring every detail is perfect. From anthuriums to hydrangeas, everything is meticulously tailored to the client’s wishes. The rest of the week is dedicated to large, international floral projects.

Jan exclusively buys all his flowers from Greenflor. “I’ve bought from various wholesalers over the years, but I never found the quality I needed.
