On a sunny Thursday afternoon in late September, as trains rush by and the cortaderia gracefully dances in the wind, we visit the Van Leeuwen family business. In an oasis of tranquility on the edge of a lively village, father, son, and daughter-in-law work together to carefully trim, bind, and prepare the freshly cut cortaderia for sale.

“This is truly a family business, started in 1965,” says the proud 85-year-old owner, Chris van Leeuwen. He takes us on a tour of his 7000 m² property, where more than 100,000 stunning cortaderia plants are in full bloom. “What’s special about the Cortaderia Evita is that it doesn’t shed,” he says with a smile. When you hold this plume in your hand, you immediately notice the exceptional quality. “And if you dry them, they become even whiter and more beautiful,” he adds. These cortaderia are an indispensable addition to any interior, timeless and elegant.

from grower to wholesaler

The cortaderia are carefully hand-trimmed to size. The standard length is 120 cm, but we can also deliver 130 cm upon request. The next day, they are already at auction and find their way to the wholesaler. This beautiful product stands out due to its visible quality and the ability to stay beautiful for years without maintenance. Cortaderia are timeless, fit into any interior, and have been trendsetters and eye-catchers for years.
