Inleiding blog - Kransen uit turkije

Autumn at Greenflor is all about our exclusive decorative fruit wreaths. These handmade eye-catchers are the showpiece of any assortment. During our visit to Turkey, we saw how craftsmanship, passion and tradition come together – from fields full of berries and flowers to the workshops where experienced binders make the most beautiful wreaths.

wegener: pioneer and trendsetter in wreaths

When you think of decorative fruit wreaths, you cannot ignore Isabel Wegener. Active in Turkey for 25 years, she is considered a living legend and pioneer. She was the first to market decorative wreaths, separate from mourning or Advent. Today, with a team of eight specialised binders, she supplies unique, high-quality wreaths for Greenflor.

Isabel is German and therefore knows the European market, trends and customer needs like no other. Together with our buyer/seller Jerry, she has been providing a golden combination for more than twenty years: Isabel produces, Jerry distributes fairly and transparently among our customers.

melli and anttar: a village full of wreath craftsmanship

In the mountains of Turkey, wreath manufacturer Melli works with around a hundred households in a village of just 2,000 people. Entire families gather myrtle, solanum, rose hips, peppers and berries from the forests, which are then processed into colourful seasonal wreaths. With input from Greenflor, the colours and materials are seamlessly aligned with European trends.

In the same village, wreath maker Anttar specialises in the larger-scale production of Advent wreaths with Christmas greenery such as nobilis and juniperus. Thanks to close collaboration with flower wholesaler Greenflor, they are now a regular supplier to the German, British and Dutch markets in particular.

mazar: unique wreaths

A true niche product are the schinnes wreaths from Mazar, our only Turkish supplier of this special item. Schinnes grows on trees, is carefully picked by hand and dried, and then processed into small, exclusive wreaths. The precision work is done by the owner's four sisters themselves, making each wreath unique. Greenflor was the first to bring this product to the United Kingdom, and to this day it remains a popular item among wholesalers and florists in Germany and the United Kingdom.
