Two impressive Furora machines dominate the large, modern shed when we step inside. The flowers are placed on the conveyor manually, after which technology takes over. Each flower is captured in a detailed photograph, providing valuable information. The flowers are then sorted based on these images, by bud size, stem thickness, and overall length. This precise sorting ensures every bundle of calla cut flowers is perfectly packaged.

The peak season for callas occurs in August and September when the stunning flowers are lovingly hand-picked. Immense fields bloom with pink, purple, orange, yellow, and white callas, creating a spectacular sight. This year, Kallaland has dedicated approximately 35 hectares to the production of calla cut flowers and bulbs. We witness the harvesting process and learn how the bulbs are multiplied. This process takes several years and involves large tractors, sorting machines, and a great deal of manual work and care. Outside of the peak season, during which around 7.5 million stems are hand-picked in a short period, this process keeps the company busy year-round.
