On a warm, sunny day, we decided to visit Rob Beentjes’ Commercial Nursery, located amidst lush and blooming fields. Full of anticipation to admire the eremuruses, we walked into the nursery’s greenhouses. Our eyes were immediately drawn to the beautiful eremuruses, which stood proudly erect in the warm rays of the sun.

The beauty of the eremurus

In the warm greenhouse, the yellow-orange eremuruses shine like fiery lights. Their slender stems reach for the sky as the flowers open like a radiant greeting to the day. The vibrant colour and delicate fragrance of these cut flowers make them an unmistakable showpiece, a celebration of nature’s splendour.

A look at cultivation practices

As we continued our way through the nursery, we got a unique insight into Rob Beentjes’ cultivation practices. With attention and dedication, the eremuruses are nurtured here, from the careful selection of seeds to harvesting the flowers at the peak of their splendour. It was inspiring to see how each step in the process contributes to the final beauty of these vertical masterpieces.

Blooming dreams: Commercial nursery Rob Beentjes

Since 2000, Rob Beentjes has been at the helm of his father’s nursery, now a thriving business specialising in Allium, Eremurus and Agapanthus. Besides growing these flowers, his company facilitates the export and retail of larger lots, but also supports small-scale growers without an auction connection.
